Uniform Expectations and requirements 2024/25:
Skirt (girls only): Please ensure you allow for growth when purchasing girls’ skirts. The length of skirts should not be altered. If the length of a skirt is shorter than acceptable (2-3 inches above the knee) then pupils will be unable to wear it as part of their uniform and a new one will need to be purchased. Pupils who decide to roll their skirts up will be challenged by staff and subsequent and appropriate consequences put in place.
Trousers (Girls): Trousers are navy and must be purchased from the school shop. There are two styles of trousers available, the first is a standard girls fit with a straight leg and the second is a slim fit trouser. No other style or cut is acceptable or to be purchased elsewhere.
Trousers (Boys): Trousers must be straight legged and be plain charcoal grey material only i.e. no tapering (getting thinner) or flaring (widening) towards the ankle.
Trousers that are skinny fit/skin tight, denim, made of heavy cotton material, contain Lycra, or similar stretchy / elastic fabric that would cause them when worn to look skin tight/tapered, or with logos are not acceptable.
Tie: Ties to be purchased in house colour and should be worn with the knot covering the collar button of the shirt and at an acceptable length i.e., meeting skirts/trousers waist band.
Blazer: Navy with school badge. Blazer sleeves should not be rolled up. Pupils who decide to roll up their sleeves will be challenged by staff and subsequent and appropriate sanctions put in place.
Footwear: Black polishable shoes only. Sandals, backless shoes, boots, huaraches, Nike Air Force one, trainers, plimsolls or suede shoes are not acceptable.
Coats: We recommend coats for inclement weather. Other jumpers or hoodies are not permitted to be worn on the school site.
Jewellery: Jewellery is not allowed except for a watch and one pair of small (no more than 4mm in diameter) metallic ear studs on the ear lobes only (one in each ear and not ear-rings). Any other visible piercings are not permitted.
Makeup: Makeup should be discreet. Nail varnish, false nails and/or nail art are not to be worn. No false eye lashes are allowed. Any pupil seen with nail varnish/false nails/false eye lashes will be expected to remove them and will be placed in Reflection until removed.
For information: Within every PE lesson, students are required to remove all items of jewellery. This includes earrings and watches. Earring tape is not considered acceptable to cover piercings; the earring must be taken out. Any new piercings need to be taken into account with time to heal before term time begins.
Hair: Extreme styles of hair are unacceptable. These include: unnatural colours (for example red/plum/purple tinted), two tone/dip-dye hair. Shaved lines, shaved patterns and/or distinct/sharp changes in length in the hair are also not acceptable. Any changes in length should be graduated throughout the style. No prominent hair accessories such as flowers are allowed. Small clips and bands are permitted. Longer hair will need to be tied back for practical lessons and during exams.
Students will work in Reflection and be out of social times if the style of hair or colour or standard of uniform is seen as failing to comply with the expectations as outlined above. If you are unsure of what is acceptable, please contact the school in advance of getting hair cut/coloured or purchasing uniform e.g. trousers.
By having high expectations and clarity of uniform and appearance, standards will remain high and support our students in how they present themselves. We thank you for your continued support and know that working together continues to be a strength of the school.
Students who choose not to wear their uniform correctly will be issued with a sanction. If pupils persistently fail to meet the expectations this will result in an internal suspension in our Reflection provision.
