Level 3 Academic
Academic A Level 3
A levels are all linear. This means that all exams are taken at the end of Year 13. Coursework for the majority of linear A levels has been removed, with the exception of a small number of subjects such as History, Geography and English Literature.
For students who are predicted to achieve, or who have achieved 5 grades at 7 and above at GCSE, including English and Maths at no less than grade 6, they have the option to choose four Level 3 subjects, predominantly made up of academic A Levels.
For students who are predicted to achieve, or who have achieved 5 grades at 4 and above at GCSE, including English and Maths, it is expected they will choose three Level 3 subjects from the academic and/or vocational options, as long as they meet the criteria for individual subjects. Often the subject specific requirements will detail specific grades in that subject (or a comparable one) which must also be achieved.
