Entry Requirements

4 GCSE’s 9-4, including Maths and English and a Grade 5 (Level 2 Pass) or above in Art.

A portfolio of art work demonstrating artistic abilities and proficiency in using a broad range of media and processes.

Students should be to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed to developing their art work at home. They should have experience of working with a camera and sketchbook to record their own observations and experiences and should be prepared to develop and refine their art by exploring alternative possibilities and solutions.

This 2-year course is an introduction to the study of Art & Design at level three and is for students who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment, in the creative industries.

The work is marked using Pass – (E at A level), Merit (C at A level), Distinction or Distinction * (A/A* A Level)

To successfully pass the course learners must complete and achieve at least a pass grade or above for all units.

Career Pathways

You may decide to further your studies by continuing with a foundation course in Further Education. This will give you a more in-depth experience of art and design, allowing you to decide on your specialist area of expertise and prepare you for university.

Extra-Curricular

You will visit museums and galleries to support your studies and will have the opportunity to make connections with local arts organisations, practicing artists and designers to learn about the industry.

You may have the opportunity to produce art work for real clients.
