Special Needs Interventions (KS3) - Literacy

Content Overview

Literacy – Work on all areas of Literacy including phonics, to aid curricular access. 

Memory – Techniques to improve visual and auditory memory to impact on learning and generalisation skills to mainstream access. 

Speech and Language / Specialist Teaching & Learning Service directed support according to the level of need

Assessment

LUCID LASS every second term Results as standardised scores.

Lesson Time

One to One sessions per week, either 1:1 or small group work, depending on need.

Literacy interventions are tailored to the individual Pupils may also receive TA support in lessons.

Over the course of the year students’ work as soloists, pairs or in groups, working on performing, composing or fine tuning their listening skills.   

Extra-Curricular Activities

Homework club in Insieme.

Special Needs Interventions (KS4)

Content Overview

Students may receive TA support in lessons, may be withdrawn for small group tuition in Insieme KS4 Learning, may follow either reduced timetables (to allow for additional support in core subjects) or bespoke vocational programmes which, for some curriculum time, will be off our site.

Assessment

All students with SEN needs will take a range of GCSE’s, BTEC’s with the option of Functional Skills and Entry Level qualifications in English and Maths when deemed appropriate.
