Welcome to the Sixth Form
Welcome to the Ursuline College Sixth Form
The Sixth Form at Ursuline College offers fantastic opportunities for students to study and further their skills with excellent and innovative teaching, thereby enabling students to gain the qualifications and experiences needed to access university, further education and the careers of their choice. We offer Sixth Form places to our successful year 11 students as well as highly recommended external students. We are committed to supporting the success of every student.
We are very proud of the Sixth Form at Ursuline College and the achievements of our students. In 2015, 26% of students studying A Level achieved grades A*- B, on our vocational programmes 100% of our students achieved D* - P. These students have progressed on to study, Clinical Psychology, Criminology, Forensics, Education, History and English Literature. We also have students who have taken up apprenticeships in football coaching and management, hospitality, real estate, local government and business management.
We offer a wide range of academic and vocational courses at levels 2 and 3 alongside a tutorial programme that offers guidance for students in study skills, careers advice, and higher education advice. We provide guidance, support with personal statements, interview practice and visits to universities and workplaces. We also host our own annual careers event offering an opportunity for our students to gain first hand professional advice. There are many opportunities for field work and cultural trips. Students benefit from being part of an international school through Ursuline Links. Recent visits have included New Orleans, New York, Berlin, Barcelona, France and Belgium and India.
In our Sixth Form we are also able to offer a Post 16 football and coaching scholarship programme in conjunction with TSC Academy who operates two Kent based football academies for talented, advanced youth football players in Thanet and Faversham. This programme has been designed specifically for Ursuline College in conjunction with Mr Seb Tidey, Head Coach at TSC Football Academy. There is a structured, professional coaching programme for talented players who may wish to progress seamlessly onto University to play at a higher level, or to follow a semi-professional/ professional route into the game. In addition, the highly structured coaching scholarship designed to complement the playing scholarship; this means that coaching scholars have the opportunity to become involved in the delivery of the well-established TSC community programme as well as supporting the delivery of the football programme within school itself across Year 7-11 students.
Our sixth form students are actively encouraged to participate and contribute to all aspects of school life. There are many leadership opportunities for students in the sixth form. We have a Sixth Form Student Council that supports whole school events and community work. Many student leaders work alongside teachers in KS3 and KS4 classes, working as mentors and lead by example in our school and wider community. We also have strong links with our local community hosting events such as our annual senior citizens Christmas party.
Young people who join our Sixth Form are supported by our Ursuline community and in the spirit of Serviam, we pride ourselves on our caring community and strong pastoral care. We have an experienced team of staff who are here to give students individual support and advice; academically, personally and spiritually. We believe in empowering our students to enable them to develop and grow in a structured, nurturing, environment ensuring that they achieve their academic potential and flourish as responsible young adults; who are ready to take their next steps in education or the world of work and to make a positive contribution to our community.
We are confident that you will find the Sixth Form challenging and rewarding and an excellent preparation for a successful and exciting future.
We look forward to welcoming you into our Sixth Form in September.
